Leading US Bank, Programme / Portfolio Manager

Responsible for the inception and delivery of an IT Controls and Compliance Programme.  This included delivering a 31 project change portfolio, definition of a Business As Usual framework including MI repository, and business change elements relating to the embedding of objectives and accountabilities into the performance management plans of involved parties. Establishment of a multi disciplined team performing business analysis, portfolio support, and process/framework design. Key elements of the placement included:-

Leading UK Bank, Programme Manager

Responsible for the inception and management of an Asset Management and Software Licence Review across the Company.  This included ownership, usage, business process, and analysis workstreams across more than 40,000 workstations, 5,000 Servers and 20+ internal and 3rd party support areas.  Peregrine Asset Center and PDI formed the basis for usage assessment whilst SAP and advanced database tools were used to support the analysis effort.  Establishment of a multi disciplined team performing technical and business analysis, legal review and vendor assessment and negotiation. Key elements of the placement included:-

·          In depth review of extensive outputs based on multi million data records

Leading UK Bank, Programme Manager

Responsible for the inception of Mobile Service delivery across the Company.  The services included solutions for home workers, roaming workers (3G/GPRS/WiFi), and Pocket Email (BlackBerry) users  The Programme included establishment of a series of strategic managed services based on a major VPN infrastructure implementation. Propositions were jointly developed with major 3rd party consultancies. The delivery included overseeing 3rd party suppliers, defining a BAU support model, e2e testing accountability and input to the Group IT strategy and service options. Key elements of the placement included:-

Leading UK Bank, IT Delivery Programme Manager

Responsible for the IT delivery team established to deliver a strategic business process Outsourcing and Offshoring initiative.  This initiative involved business process reengineering, application development of a Staffware workflow solution to support new offshore processes, deployment of a Citrix farm, consolidation of existing servers, scanning operations, WAN Connectivity and high volume imaging. Responsibility for programme inception, ownership of consultancy relationship with ImpactPlus, establishment of IT development team, overall budget of £4M, resource handling, testing team set-up and implementation of the complex systems and architecture..  Key elements of the placement included:-

Responsibility for project inception, establishment of a combined internal/external/supplier IT team, budget of £2M, resource management, testing team deliverables and implementation of the application to the business. Leading UK Bank, Senior IT Delivery Manager

Responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of a series of e-Commerce application developments and mobile propositions.  Establishment and tracking of £4M budget along with change management, team management, RAIDs, and design approval.  Working with consultancy support from major supplier to shape the propositions. Project Management to Prince2 standards covering progress reporting, documentation standards and planning. Highlights of the placement included:-


·          Investigation and learning to enhance m-Commerce expertise within the Bank to support future customer and staff propositions

·          Establishment of Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) based Prototype solutions using Oracle’s Portal-to-Go product to re-purpose content for specific devices as part of the multi-channel m-Commerce strategy

·          Delivery of a bespoke Financial Portal enhancement to support certain customers segments including closer integration with other Bank services.  Involving 3 man years of effort over a 5 month period.

·          Delivery of a solution to provide enhanced Personal Financial Summary (PFS) information to the Financial Portal which supports 2 million on-line customers across all customer segments

·          Management and selection of suitable 3rd Party suppliers alongside permanent and contract staff


Leading UK Bank, Senior IT Delivery Manager

Responsible for the establishment and management of the application development team setup to enhance and implement the OverQuota Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application based on Lotus Notes/Domino v4.6.3 with links to core banking systems.  This involved establishing a team and environment to undertake Notes development.  Managed consultancy relationship. Establishment and tracking of the budget along with change management, recruitment and environment design approval.  Prince2 standards enforced. Highlights of the placement included: -


·          Recruitment of Notes specialists with development and administrations skills from approved suppliers.

·          Management of 3rd party relationships with UK supplier and Software Developers.

·          Managing estimated budget in excess of £2M with approximately 4 man year’s worth of resource effort.

·          Delivery to entire audience of 2000 users over three phases, including product and template enhancements to both Desktop and Remote Laptop users

1998 – 1999

Leading UK Bank, Programme / Portfolio Manager

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the change portfolio throughout the Information Services Desktop division.  This involved a variety projects such as business unit relocations, new sites, major laptop rollouts, desktop software upgrades, server upgrades, technical solution design & implementation, Year 2000, etc…  Multi location teams and offices throughout the UK and Europe. 3rd Party management . Enforcement of Project Management best practice. Establishment of a Programme Office team who handled all governance and change management elements of the Programmes and Project Portfolio. Responsible for major initiatives successfully completed including:-


·          Deployment of 2000+ laptops to mobile managers needing greater levels of contact with customers.  Involved meeting security policies, outsourcing of specific elements, supplier selection, detailed documentation and management of all project team members.  Also involved with advice & guidance on design.  Estimated budget in excess of £3M with approximately 6 man years worth of resource effort. 

·          NT4 Upgrades from NT 3.51 across 2000 desktops and 30 servers.  Included user communication, technical documentation, provision of training, and remote issue resolution.  Estimated budget in excess of £1M with approximately 2 man year’s worth of resource effort. 

·          Relocation to new site in London with 4 servers and 200 users, utilising both standard PC and Thin Client based technology, as well as Comms room and VOIP telephony establishment.

·          Consolidation of locations, technologies and systems to make best use of the central Infrastructure across the Group.

·          Servers rationalised from multiple locations to campus sites and central computer centre only.

·          Establishment of Business Continuity plan to support IT facilities across all SBU’s.

·          Year 2000 assured for the environment utilising appropriate hardware compliance verification software and testing of software to agreed standards on our own Ring Fenced Environment.

·          Establishment of professional and measurable methods of handling business analysis, programme and project management within the IT organisation.

·          Staff development and management including recruitment of both permanent and contract staff.
